Simon Arizpe (born Tucson, AZ, 1984) is an award winning pop-up book designer, paper engineer & illustrator based in Brooklyn, NY. A #1 Best Selling Author for his recent Stranger Things Pop-Up Book, his work received the 2018-2019 Meggendorfer Prize, the highest honor in pop-up book design, as well as the Award of Excellence from the Society of Illustrators and the NYC MoCCA. Simon’s work is also in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian, the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum, and the Columbia University’s rare book collection.
A graduate of The Pratt Institute, Simon has worked in the field of pop-up book design for over 20 years. Working on every aspect of design: from concept and engineering to mass production and printing on over 35 pop-up books. Some of Simon’s notable clients include: Netflix, Disney, The Central Park Conservancy, The Washington Post, Blizzard Entertainment, IFC Films, The Aperture Foundation, and the MoMA Design Store. In addition to his design work, Simon is the professor of paper engineering at The Pratt Institute in New York City.
